It is THE star of South Tyrol on Instagram, is often called the "Hallstadt of South Tyrol" or the "Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes" because of its uniqueness and it is even more stunning in real life: Prags Lake is clearly the star of the Puster Valley! And the MTB tour up to almost 1,500 metres above sea level is the highlight tour of the region.
Framed by rugged mountains - first and foremost the imposing Seekofel with its 2,810 m high peak - which are reflected in the emerald-green water, the Prags Lake, or Lago di Braies in Italian, offers an incredible backdrop. Created by the natural force of a mudflow, the 31-hectare mountain lake has not only appealed to the directors of "Un passo dal cielo" (in German: "Die Bergpolizei - Ganz nah am Himmel") as a film location but also became a must-see attraction thanks to the Italian hit series starring Terrence Hill - in the middle of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags nature park.
You can't escape the beauty of nature up here - swap your bike or E-bike for a rowing boat for an hour and go in search of the gate to the subterranean realm of the Fanes. Because according to legend, you can only reach it by boat at the southern end of the mysterious lake.
